Olivia Harrison is a clarinetist whose adaptability propels her into new experiences. With many places to call home, including Sayville, NY, Tarpon Springs, FL, and Nashville, TN, Olivia takes change into her stride and, by extension, her music. Now a resident of Baltimore, MD, her perusal of a career in performance is still alive and well.
Olivia’s history of change, in residences and education, allows her to prioritize what’s important in her career. As an aspiring orchestral performer, she looks to form lasting connections with those she comes in contact with. She has worked to co-found her former woodwind quintet and her ongoing contemporary trio, Sacrament. With these groups she has gained performing experience in various gigs and summer festivals. This past summer (’22) Sacrament, consisting of clarinet, flute, and percussion, were chosen as one of two Ensemble Fellows for the Cortona Sessions Contemporary Music Initiative. There, Sacrament was able to show their passion for contemporary music by giving a recital and premiering two works written for them by Cortona Sessions composers.
As Olivia is in her new home of Baltimore, MD, she has broken into the Baltimore gig scene with her fellow classmates, in a woodwind quintet consisting of new and old friends. She has plans for continued collaboration with Sacrament, including new recordings of even more contemporary pieces.
After studying with a multitude of professors in her undergrad at Vanderbilt University, she is continuing her education at the Peabody Institute, expecting to gain her Master of Music in the Spring of 2024. In her free time, Olivia loves to read fiction, explore different mediums of creation through painting and crocheting, and spoil her beloved cats.
